Ways to Relax

Are you feeling stressed? Around this time of year everyone seems a bit stressed out. Everyone is trying to keep up with their new years resolutions, while re-adjusting to the ‘work’ environment. Here are some tips and ways to relax! It’s extremely important to find ways to relax and wind down at the end of a long day. This will improve your overall mood and your sleep quality. Everyone is a little bit different but you can use these ways as a staring point for a more relaxed and stress-free year!

Breathe: This one sounds very clichΓ© but people forget it more than you would think! Make sure to focus on your breathing if you are feeling overwhelmed – it’s a lifesaver!

Drink herbal tea: I personally love tea. I recommend green tea or chamomile: they are proven to make you fall asleep quicker! Tea will make you all cozy from the inside.

Write it down: Let out whatever is bothering you! It’s better to end up with a page of nonsense than holding everything in and letting the situation get even worse. Once you finish writing you can let yourself move on. When I do this I feel as though a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

Problem solve: Make sure to identify the source of your stress, but most importantly ask yourself: do I have control over it or not?Β love-romantic-bath-candlelight

Take a warm bath/shower: The warm water will instantly loosen your muscles making you feel super relaxed. (Btw this is 100% better with some Lush products that will make you smell amazing afterwards!)

Listen to music: I put in my earphones and I am instantly off, dancing to BeyoncΓ© and Adele. If you are about to go to sleep there a hundreds of rain noise/ocean noise compilations that will make you super relaxed and ready for bed.

Call a friend/family member: Talk to someone about your day. You can also distract yourself for a bit by listening to their day (you will definatly get a laugh out of it as well.)

Go for a quick walk: Get some fresh air and clear your head. This is my personal favourite because it really puts things in perspective. I can look around and see other people living their day: showing me that the world isn’t ending and my stress is insignificant compared to the rest of the world!

Read/watch a movie: Let yourself fall into another universe where you don’t have to think about your life and problems. If you aren’t the biggest book warm watch a movie instead.

Craft/hobby: Do the one thing you know will make you happy. If that is painting: paint! If that is cooking: cook. If that is doing some good old online shopping: go and spend some money haha!

    Love this post! I often find it hard to relax but there are so many good tips you have mentioned, A few I already try and do but a few new ones like going for a walk or getting lost in a movie or book. Really needed to be reminded that it’s healthy to relax and have down time x

    Just reading your post made me feel relaxed, everything you listed as surely some of my favorite ways. I love taking a hot shower while listening to music, come out light the candle, make myself some tea, comfy clothes, and either read or watch some shows…and now I’m just thinking about how I want to go home and do just that lol
